The Brand New Mercedes-Benz Electric G-Wagon

Mercedes have taken a step into the future with the concept car EQG. With over 40 years of iconic design, they are transforming this already incredible vehicle to embrace the laws of the future. These laws are low emissions. Take a look at their website HERE, as their designer has produced something spectacular and very futuristic to really get us all excited for its release in 2025.

Mercedes-Benz EQG

The Mercedes-Benz EQG is the electric version of the iconic G-Class, also known as the G-Wagon. This rugged and luxurious SUV has been a staple of the Mercedes-Benz lineup for decades, and the EQG takes everything that made the G-Wagon great and adds the latest in electric vehicle technology.

The EQG boasts a powerful electric motor that delivers instant torque and smooth acceleration. It has a range of up to 350 miles on a single charge, making it perfect for long road trips or daily commuting. The battery can be charged using a standard household outlet, or you can use a DC fast charger to get up to 80% charge in just 40 minutes.

In terms of design, the EQG stays true to the G-Wagon’s signature look, with its boxy body, round headlights, and vertical grille. However, it does have some subtle updates that set it apart, such as a closed-off grille and unique wheels. The interior of the EQG is just as luxurious as its gasoline-powered counterpart, with comfortable leather seats, a premium audio system, and advanced technology features like a fully digital instrument cluster and a massive infotainment display.

One of the most impressive features of the EQG is its off-road capability. It has a variety of advanced traction control systems that allow it to tackle any terrain. It also has a number of advanced safety features, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.

Off-Road Capability

One of the key selling points of the G-Wagon has always been its impressive off-road capability, and the EQG is no different. It has high ground clearance, a sturdy ladder-frame chassis, and a variety of advanced traction control systems that allow it to tackle any terrain. It also has a number of advanced driver assist systems that help you navigate difficult off-road conditions, including hill descent control and a locking differential.

Powertrain and Performance

The EQG is powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery pack that delivers 80.7 kWh of energy. This is paired with a single electric motor that generates 355 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain allows the EQG to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, making it one of the quickest SUVs in its class. It has a top speed of 130 mph, which is more than enough for most driving situations.

In terms of range, the EQG has a maximum range of up to 350 miles on a single charge, depending on driving conditions and how you use the vehicle. This makes it one of the longest-range electric SUVs on the market, and it is more than enough for most people’s daily driving needs.

Charging

Charging the EQG is easy and convenient, thanks to its ability to use both standard household outlets and DC fast chargers. Using a 240V outlet, it takes about 8 hours to fully charge the battery. With a DC fast charger, you can get up to 80% charge in just 40 minutes. The EQG also has a number of charging modes that allow you to customise the charging process to suit your needs. For example, you can set the vehicle to charge overnight when energy rates are lower, or you can use the “Range Plus” mode to get the maximum range possible.

Design and Features

As mentioned earlier, the EQG maintains the classic look of the G-Wagon, with its boxy body, round headlights, and vertical grille. The two-tone exterior colour follows the design pattern that Mercedes has introduced for some of their other cars (such as the GLS Maybach and the S Class Maybach), we love this design choice. It helps to add that extra sparkle and innovation to an already historic vehicle. It has a high ground clearance and a rugged, off-road-inspired appearance, making it perfect for tackling any terrain. It also has a number of design updates that set it apart from the traditional G-Wagon, including a closed-off grille, unique wheels, and a number of aerodynamic enhancements to improve range.

Inside, the EQG is just as luxurious as its gasoline-powered counterpart, with comfortable leather seats, a premium audio system, and advanced technology features like a fully digital instrument cluster and a massive infotainment display. The infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a number of advanced safety features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.

Interior

The interior of the EQG is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for up to five passengers. The seats are upholstered in high-quality leather and are both heated and cooled for maximum comfort. The front seats are also power-adjustable, and there is a panoramic sunroof that allows you to enjoy the scenery.

The infotainment system of the EQG is top-notch, with a massive display that is easy to see and use. It includes a variety of advanced features like navigation, music streaming, and hands-free calling. The EQG also has a premium audio system with a subwoofer and a variety of audio sources, including satellite radio and a CD player.

The EQG also has a number of advanced safety features, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. These features use sensors and cameras to monitor the road and help you stay safe while driving. The EQG also has a number of airbags and stability control systems to help protect you in the event of a collision.

Overall, the Mercedes-Benz EQG is a truly impressive vehicle that combines the ruggedness and versatility of the G-Wagon with the latest in electric vehicle technology. Whether you’re taking on the trails or cruising down the highway, the EQG has the power and comfort to take you wherever you want to go.
