The new Mercedes AMG SL has had a full overhaul. With improvements including a lighter aluminium shell, more robust aerodynamics and enhanced speed and power, this redesign shares its origins with the 2023 next generation AMG. In other words, it’s a whole new animal. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 unit delivers 469bhp and 516lb ft of torque, a slight 26bhp upgrade on its predecessor. However, its main appeal for Mercedes fans will be the extra leg room for rear passengers now accommodating 5ft tall inhabitants. This does result in less boot space, but its a worthy compromise for the added styling and top spec 0-62mph time of 3.6sec and a 196mph top speed!
